Considered by many to be one of Vermonts premier fine artists, Mike Mayone is known for his paintings of regional landscapes recognized for their outstanding realism and exceptional detail.
Mike has created artwork nearly his entire life... from early on, painting gifts for close friends and family to honing his skills lettering signs and producing custom paintings and illustrations for hire. With no formal education in the field, Mike began painting full time in 1991, supplementing his income with part-time work until 1998, when the demand for his art grew to require his complete attention. Sales through area galleries were very encouraging and steady commission work gave him the confidence to realize he was doing something right... and now he has built a lifelong career from these skills.
Acrylics may be his favorite media, but Mike is also very capable in oils, watercolor, pen & ink and graphite... and he enjoys working in an uncommon diversity of painting styles as well. Because a good deal of Mikes original work is created on commission, many of these paintings are never seen on public exhibit, and his time-consuming, high-detail style prevents him from producing as many originals per year as most artists. Yet his artistry embraces elements that we can so easily relate to... and not surprisingly, most of his scenes are inspired by the magnificence of the region that surrounds him. Mike loves to capture and preserve the rural beauty of the Northeast, and especially the charm of Vermont, in his artwork.
Mike offers original paintings as well as limited and open edition prints (lithographs and archival giclees), fine art posters and notecards... all produced from his artwork. Selected retailers, shows and galleries - such as here at the Brandon Artists Guild - showcase Mikes work and provide the opportunity for collectors, or anyone, to own and admire a piece for themselves. Mike also welcomes visits to his art studio and website (www.mikemayone.com). Youll find the artwork of Mike Mayone in international publications and the collections of many satisfied fine art and portraiture customers coast to coast and internationally.
Mike lives in East Middlebury, Vermont with his wife, Denise and their young son, Max --where Mike also finds time to serve his community as a volunteer firefighter (which he has proudly done since 1980). Proving his motto of anything worth doing is worth overdoing applies to more than just his artwork, Mike was named Addison County, Vermont Firefighter of the Year in January of 2007.
